Wrist break
At the end of the back cast the wrist opens, the rod tip drops behind you and the line falls low. The forward cast then has to start from a poor position.

Wrist break
The wrist opened and the rod tip dropped behind you.
- Try this
- Stop the rod higher. Think of the thumb stopping opposite your ear.
What it looks like on the trace
The back-cast end of the tip path hooks down behind you instead of stopping high. With the skeleton on, you see the angle between forearm and rod open past its range.
Likely causes
- Letting the wrist hinge at the end of the back cast.
- Stopping late, so the rod keeps rotating.
- A loose grip that lets the rod fall back.
One thing to try
Stop the rod higher. Think of the thumb stopping opposite your ear.
A drill for it
The wrist drill: the app shows the rod-to-forearm angle live. Keep it inside its band while you cast. Drills
How Tight Loop spots it
It follows your forearm and the rod, and measures how far the angle between them opens during the cast, and where the rod stops behind you.
