Distance and tip speed
The Distance tab shows what makes line speed.
- Casting arc: the angle the rod moved through, in degrees.
- Back-cast stop and Forward-cast stop: where the rod stopped each way, drawn as angles.
- Tip speed at the stop: how fast the rod tip was moving when you stopped it.
- Stop crispness: Crisp or Soft.
- Tip speed, last ten casts: a line showing your recent casts.
Speed compared with your best
Until the app knows your rod length, tip speed is shown against your own best cast, measured relative to your build. That is enough to see whether you are getting faster.
Real speed
Add the rod length for the cast, in Conditions or in your rod and line setup, and the speed is shown in mph or km/h. It is estimated from the rod length: a bent rod, or one angled toward the camera, reads low.
