“Lost the tip here”

Sometimes the app loses the rod tip partway through a cast, usually against bright sky or a busy background. Instead of guessing, it stops on that frame and says Lost the tip here. Tap it once more.

Tap the tip on the frame it shows, then tap Trace again. One more tap is usually enough; it may ask once or twice more on a hard clip.

Giving it a clean tap

• Use the magnifier: keep your finger slightly below the tip and drag until the cross sits on it.
• Tap the very end of the rod, not the line beyond it.
• If the tip has left the frame, tap where it leaves.

Parts of the trace the app filled in between taps are drawn dashed, and the review says Traced by hand between taps. Film with the sun behind the phone and the whole rod in frame to need fewer taps next time.
