Importing a clip someone else filmed

You can analyze a clip someone else filmed, or one you took with the camera app.

1. On the record screen, tap Import a clip, then Choose a video.
2. Pick the clip from your library.
3. Trim it to the casts you want traced by dragging the handles. Tap Use whole clip to keep all of it. Clips over 30 seconds take longer to trace.
4. Tap the rod tip on three frames, as for a recorded cast.

What works

Videos from the iPhone and Android camera apps, and most MP4, MOV and WebM files. Film side-on, with the caster about a third of the frame tall; the filming tips apply to imported clips too.

When a clip won’t import

Very short clips, clips with no picture and some unusual formats can’t be read, and the app says This file isn’t a video we can read. Save it again from your camera app, or film it again in Tight Loop.
