Exam prep
Coach › Exam prep is practice for the Fly Fishers International (FFI) Certified Instructor exam, set out by skill. It has ten casting tasks, such as Loop size on request and Tailing loops, made and fixed, and seven teaching tasks, such as Explain tailing loops. They show in the app’s language.
Tap a task to open it. Each one shows:
- What it tests: why examiners ask for it.
- How to practice, for casting tasks: the drill, with a distance where it matters.
- Check yourself: three things your clip should show. Tick each one when it does. Teaching tasks list what A good explanation covers instead.
- Faults to know: tap one for what it means and what to try.
- Practice it here: a link to the Loop lab, the pause drill, the drills or the target game, where one helps.
Then:
- Tap Film this task, or Film the demonstration for a teaching task. The clip is saved against the task.
- For a teaching task, explain the demonstration out loud as if to a student, and tick each point you covered.
- Tap Send to mentor to send the clip to the instructor who is preparing you.
The list shows each task as Not started, Attempted, Sent to mentor or Reviewed, or how many checks you’ve ticked.
The tasks are paraphrased practice, not the official wording. The exam itself has 15 casting tasks and 7 teaching tasks, set out in FFI’s current evaluation form; read it and FFI’s roadmap before the exam. Exam prep is part of Pro, and Tight Loop is not affiliated with FFI.
