The four checks on the record screen
Before you record, four checks run on the live picture. Each turns solid white with a check mark when it’s met.
- Caster found. The app can see a person. If it stays grey, step into the frame and stand side-on.
- Big enough. You’re about a third of the frame tall. Move the phone closer or further until it turns white.
- Sun behind you. The camera isn’t looking into the sun. When it reads Sun in front, the rod tip will be hard to follow against bright sky.
- Level. The phone is upright. Straighten it until the check turns white.
When all four are white the screen says Ready when you are.
The sun is in front of the camera
If you start with the sun in front, the app asks you first. Turn around shows how far to turn so the sun ends up behind the phone. About tip tape explains reflective tip tape: a strip of bright tape on the top six inches of the rod makes the tip easy to follow. Record anyway goes ahead.
The checks only guide you. You can record at any time.
